“The 16th Annual General Meeting of the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club Limited was held on Monday, 12 July 2010. A good attendance was noted.
The meeting confirmed the re-election of the current board and this endorsement is appreciated by all concerned. Your Board looks forward to the challenges of the coming year that will hopefully see further growth in Club activities around the Clubhouse and competitive sailing. . . . . . . ”

“The Club recorded a very pleasing trading result for the March quarter signaling the end of the “summer trading period”. The Challenge now will be to keep this up during the quieter autumn and winter months. Members are encouraged to support our club facilities during this time and take advantage of the new menus provided by our chef to compliment the “cook your own” facility.” Says Commodore Phil Arnall

“The last couple of months have been busy as usual in the Club. The EGM to amend the Constitution was well attended and unusually uneventful. As the meeting was very short there left plenty of time to retire to the bar. Hopefully we may have established a precedent.
Members who regularly attend the club will have noticed the renovation of what was once the provisional poker machine room which has added substantially to the amenity of the club. Given that the additional space is often fully occupied by patrons one has to wonder whether much revenue at all is lost by not having poker machines. I suspect very little and I’m sure the Club and the Wickham community benefits immensely in other ways by their absence.” says Commodore Bruce Hansen.

Christmas New Year season sets great benchmark
“The Club activities are certainly up and active and I have great pleasure in reporting a bumper trading last quarter which we find a very gratifying and creditable result which would be the envy of many clubs. The result is particularly meritorious given we have no supporting income from poker machines.
I must congratulate our CEO Roy Baker and all of his staff in the Club, office and marina as the result is further support of the fact that your Club is in a very sound financial position.” says our Commodore.

“The Club recently made further progress in fulfilling what the Board considers its wider communal obligation, by making a substantial contribution to the Port HunterSailing Skiff Club Junior division – Flying Ants and also the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. This money is raised by the generous contribution of members and their guests at the Friday night Raffles and the hard work of those volunteers who run the Raffles.
I would also like to acknowledge the generous contribution made by sponsorsuch as Yellow Door Fruit and Vegetables, G Moffat and Son Oysters, Darby Street Meats and Fosters Wines.
See you around the club.
