Flare Training 2010/03/14

Over thirty people accepted the invitation to all NCYC boating members to attend Instruction on the use of flares.  These were owners and crew of both power boats and yachts.  Many brought out of date flares with them.  Instructor Chris Griffith showed a number of different types of flares with explanations as to the various ignition devices used.  He provided valuable instruction on the correct procedure when setting off flares following which each person was able to get hands on experience of this.

Many thanks to Chris Griffith for organising this session with the many authorities who needed application and/or notification, and for giving up his time in the interests of public safety.  Thanks also to Mary Holley (NCYC Sailing Committee) for arranging this with Chris.
