Skipper Input to the Direction of NCYC Sailing
The well attended meeting of NCYC Skippers held on Monday 3 May 2010 provided much in the way of ideas and preferences as to the direction for future sailing at this Club. The meeting was conducted in the usual informal manner and light hearted spirit of camaraderie while addressing the serious business of competitive sailing.

Marina access cards
Marina access cards are now being distributed for qualifying members. It has been decided to make some changes to the issue of cards to provide greater control of this process and to assist in Marina security. A summary of the process follows:
- Full membership and crew membership cards will provide access to the marina for 12 months
- Social membership cards do not provide access to the marina
- Marina berth rental tenants will be issued swipe cards upon payment of their rent for the duration of their tenancy
- Casual visitors to the marina will be issued a swipe card for the duration of their stay upon payment of their berth fee
- Contractors working on vessels will be issued with a day card for access to the marina
- Full members requiring an additional swipe card will be charged a token fee of $5 per card in an endeavour to discourage the proliferation of disposable cards.

New System in Place for Race Entry
The Sailing Committee introduced on line race entry to our competitors with the recent NCYC’s Club Marine Newcastle to Sail Port Stephens Race. This proved to be a far more efficient and effective procedure than we have used to date. As a result online registration has been put in place for our future Series, Regattas and Races, beginning with the coming 2009-2010 Season Winter Series.

April 2010 Newsletter
“The last couple of months have been busy as usual in the Club. The EGM to amend the Constitution was well attended and unusually uneventful. As the meeting was very short there left plenty of time to retire to the bar. Hopefully we may have established a precedent.
Members who regularly attend the club will have noticed the renovation of what was once the provisional poker machine room which has added substantially to the amenity of the club. Given that the additional space is often fully occupied by patrons one has to wonder whether much revenue at all is lost by not having poker machines. I suspect very little and I’m sure the Club and the Wickham community benefits immensely in other ways by their absence.” says Commodore Bruce Hansen.
