A 4-week sailing program
Friday mornings
9:00am to 11:30am

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or never been on a boat, these sessions aim to introduce more women into the wonderful world of sailing.

The course is aimed at all skill levels.  It offers a great social time out on the water and also an opportunity to relax and clear your mind!!  Women of all ages over 16 years are welcome!

WHEN:   Four week courses run regularly during Spring, Summer & Autumn.  Follow the link through to our COURSE DATES page which details all of the current scheduled courses.I phone 005

PRICE:   $180 per person  /  Discounted to $150 for return attendees.  Includes the use of our sailing equipment including a lifejacket and the services of a dedicated instructor (1:4 ratio).

WHAT TO BRING:  Sun protective clothing including a hat (peak caps work best!), enclosed wet shoes, a wind proof jacket on cooler days can be helpful, a spare change of clothes & towel (you might get the odd splash!).  We will supply a lifejacket.

EXTRA INFORMATION:  You will sail on a Force 24 inshore keelboat with up to four other course participants and an experienced instructor.  All courses are wind and weather dependent.  Should we not be able to sail on any given day we will do our utmost to reschedule to another suitable day.

BOOKING IN:  To ensure we have sufficient instructors rostered, we need all bookings and payments to be made in advance.

Oatley“BUBBLES & NIBBLES” PRESENTATION:  Please allow an extra half an hour on the final Friday of your course as we celebrate your achievements with beautiful Oatley sparkling wines and chef prepared finger foods in the NCYC Clubhouse.  A most important part of your course, you will receive your certificate of completion!

It’s SOCIAL . . . It’s RELAXING . . . It’s FUN!

“The course surpassed my expectations. I felt tentative as I had no idea what I was doing. A sailing experience in the Whitsundays left me terrified and aware that I need to know what to do to be useful on a boat and not just a terrified dumb passenger.” Participant (April 2017)

“The instructors were wonderful. We had a different instructor each time we went out. I enjoyed the variety and the different approaches to teaching and learning. The styles were quite different which meant we could take away what we could based on our own style of learning. They were all wonderful indeed, they were patient and respectful. And they knew what they were doing which meant I felt safe.” Participant (April 2017)

“I am thoroughly enjoying the course, time on the water, learning, the company of the other ladies and our instructors.  Sailing on Fridays is definitely a highlight of my week!” Belinda

“The courses (trainers!) have been great all the way, and our little crew are really starting to feel we know what we are doing.  It was especially exciting last Friday to start learning to manage the spinnaker.”

WHAT NEXT?:  We have an active group of women sailors who regularly compete in NCYC club racing as well as local and interstate passage races and regattas.  If you are interested in gaining a position on a racing keelboat for more fun and experience, please contact us at the Sailing Academy and we will put you in touch with our “She Sails @ NCYC” ambassadors.
