The Safety Boat Operator course is the third & final step in the Australian Sailing accredited pathway to learn to drive a powerboat. It is ideal for adults and teenagers (16yrs +) who wish to refine their knowledge & practical skills and incorporate rescue techniques.
Course Description
This course is designed to provide you with the skills needed to support water based activities at Clubs, schools and outdoor recreation centres. You will learn about appropriate rescue equipment selection, general race management theory and race course design, consider communication techniques and emergency management plans. Various methods of rescue techniques for different water craft will be taught including lay & recovery markers. Advanced techniques in man-overboard recovery, boat handling in swell & towing will be revised. You will also have the opportunity to work through a number of Case Studies relating to boat safety.
This course is a highly desired standard for powerboat drivers involved in Club sailing activities.
