NCYC are pleased to have partnered with the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV) to provide their very popular Weather for Sailors courses to our members.
These are “live” online courses, scheduled on specific dates, to allow participant and expert tutors to interact during course delivery. A valuable opportunity to ask questions as you go and delve further into the content where required.
The course is structured into 3 modules The Fundamentals, Coastal Sailing and Advanced Weather. It is led by highly qualified ORCV members Robin Hewitt and Andrew Roberts who are both weather enthusiasts, and contains a mixture of lectures and practical exercises. The course provides a solid foundation in marine weather, with the opportunity to discuss more advanced topics with the experts as the course progresses.
Weather for Sailors course is designed to inform all types and levels of sailors, racers and cruisers alike, how to observe weather conditions and how to find the right forecasting advice from the vast array of modern resources available.
Knowledgeable on weather and seasoned sailors, Robin Hewitt and Andrew Roberts take a practical approach to weather, looking at the applications and linking these back to visualizations before looking at various technology platforms now available.
Suitable for Ocean Racers, Cruisers, Motor Boats, Skippers and Crew.
No pre-requisites for Module 1 and building on previous knowledge for modules 2 and 3. No minimum age.
No assessment required.
