Six crews will be formed from individual competitor registrations and they will sail with a Sailing Academy instructor/mentor skipper in a regatta of up to four (4) fun filled races in the club’s fleet of Force 24 keelboats (the same boats our keelboat courses are sailed in).
Crews are encouraged to swap roles, including helming, during the regatta to ensure everyone has the opportunity to develop their skills in the different crew positions on a boat.
A Training Morning is held, to allow the six newly-formed crews to practice and work on their boat handling & teamwork prior to the regatta in the afternoon.
A racing rules & race management information briefing will be provided on the Training Morning to enhance our entrant’s knowledge of the conduct of sailing races and provide additional education in the few important right-of-way rules required whilst racing.
At this regatta we’re not focused on prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd – we award prizes for improvement, achievement and entertainment! . . . . OK, we will record race results – but our aim is learning, not winning!!!
