“On the Day” Crewing Opportunities

On race days, NCYC reserves a table for ‘Available Crew’ in the Clubhouse.

This is available for Members and non Members wishing to sail on the day. Skippers are encouraged to walk by the table on their way through the Club to their yacht.

Check with the Sailing Office prior to race day to confirm start times and the best time to be available at the Club.

Sailing Attire

It is important to dress correctly for any sport and sailing is no exception.

If this is your first outing, remember to dress warmly in layers that you can take off as needed – it is always better to be too warm than too cold!

For example,

  • shorts, t-shirts, thermals, woollen jumpers, spray jackets
  • hats, headwear, sunglasses, SUNSCREEN
  • always wear enclosed shoes – sailing boots or runners (not black soles)

Please note: The sport of sailing can be a high risk activity.  There is a significant element of risk in any activity associated with the outdoors and that persons participating as crew on a yacht or boat may be exposed to physical, mental and emotional hazards, adverse weather conditions and/or other unanticipated an unforeseen risks and dangers, and participate at their own risk.
