In a NEW 2019 initiative, we are coming to Lake Macquarie for two weeks in February! For TWO WEEKS ONLY we will be conducting on-water coaching clinics in our fleet of identical Force 24 keelboats.
Join the Youth Keelboat Program
May to September
The Club’s new fleet of Elliott 6s and existing fleet of Force 24 inshore keelboats offers developing and experienced sailors from the Hunter & north coast regions the opportunity to receive professional coaching and quality competition in inshore keelboat racing. The program also aims to provide valuable experience and transition opportunities from dinghies into keelboats for both fleet and match racing.

Newcastle Youth Keelboat Championships
May
The regatta will be raced in our new fleet of Elliott 6 inshore keelboats and aims to attract the talented youth sailors of our region. It’s an opportunity to expand your racing skills if you haven’t sailed in a one-design keelboat fleet before. Come and represent your club in this event and form a team to compete in what promises to be an action-packed two day regatta.
Interclub Challenge
June
The Interclub Challenge allows 2 teams to represent each club in four rounds of racing at each venue including NCYC, CYCA, RSYS and RPAYC. The NCYC Competitors will be teams selected from the Youth Intermediate Squad with possible invitations from the Youth Development Squad.
CrackerJack Cup
July
The CrackerJack Cup is an development youth match-racing event and aims to build the competition & match racing skills of local youth sailors. This event will have a focus on training & development through coach feedback and umpire debrief/Q&A sessions. It also provides additional regatta preparation for teams leading into the Club Marine NSW Youth Match Racing Championship to be held at the CYCA.
Thirkell Trophy
August
The Newcastle Youth Match Racing Championship, racing for the Thirkell Trophy, is NCYC’s premiere youth match-racing event and aims to build the competition & match racing skills of local youth sailors. This event, like the CrackerJack Cup, will have a focus on training & development through coach feedback and umpire debrief/Q&A sessions. It also provides additional regatta preparation for teams leading into the SHARP Australian Youth Match Racing Championship to be held at the CYCA.
